I love fishing from other's boats ...

Told you you'd see this again

Got an invite to drive north and fish the big river.  Got to the b&b, unpacked, and decided to walk the banks.  Took a rod/reel/ and a couple baits and hooks in my pocket.  That's it.  Eagles, Ospreys, Hawks, Igrets and herons were everywhere. Fish were active in nervous water and behind eddies.  Should have brought bug juice.  I got eaten alive.

After being eaten alive for a couple minutes to long, retired to the hotel, went out to eat, then slept.

We were next to an airport and never knew the Navy practiced out of these.  C-130's and C-40's were practicing tough-and-go's most of the float.  They'd take off, fly around the airport, then land and power up immediately.  The C-130's were flying in formation during the flight around the airport.  Every now and then they'd land, then take off a bit later.  I'm assuming they had a crew shift.

Woke at o'dark thirty and met my buddy.  He had a really nice River Rocket.  Inboard jet, light weight, thing's like a Ferrari on the water.  We splashed around 0630 and got hooked up on the first cast.  We both said bad luck that's bad luck - but the fish didn't hear us.  We threw everything at them and all they wanted were swimbaits on jig heads.  So after the fish schooled us in the baits, we lost count at 60 fish.  Size of fish ranged all over the place.  That's telling me they've had some really healthy spawns the last 10 years.  Every now and then a really nice fish would give us a good tug.

Weather was beautiful. Cool in the morning, wind picked up slightly to slow down the float, and then about 1400 wind dies, sun came out and it got hot.  We decided to call it shortly after the sun started baking us.

Didn't take to many pix.  Fish kept us to busy.  But here are a couple

Catch one on the 1st catch and it doesn’t stop. Win!

Getting eaten alive? Fail!

I love fishing from someone else’s boat? That’s my line. I’m working on it.

Great day for sure!!

Time to go fishin' again!

I'll gladly sacrifice being eaten alive for outings like that. Nicely done

Re: I love fishing from other's boats ...

When Riversmallies had a rodeo, a couple of the old timers bitched about sleeping on the ground, in tents, at John's camp sight (for those in the know .... they'll get it LOL)  So they found a B&B, booked the week and had nice warm beds and a breakfast.  One of the highlights of the place is it's at the longest stone arch railroad bridge in the world.  This is a train nerd place occupied mostly by train nerds and train chasers.   I enjoy staying there whenever I'm fishing the great river

Very very cool.  We call train nerds "foamers" in this region.  lol
