Got out early for a 1/2 day trip.  Plans was to get off around noon before the big heat.  Water was nice and I hit a couple spots with no hits, but I did see this Otter.



Then I started floating and finally got a tiny catfish on a wacky Damiki Stinger.  A little while later, I hooked a little smallie on a ned just floating down the river.  I lost that and tried some other lures. but no bites.  After a while I put on Ernie's lure of choice, and it was the ticket for fish cruising mid-river.  The first fish I hooked was a nice one that broke me off after dogging me near a rock.  I anchored there and caught 3 in that spot. Here are the 2 bigger ones.








These fish fought hard!  They all took me a minute or two to get them to the net on 8 pound leader.

I floated out of there and got a couple more scattered downstream.  One was a little guy, so no pic.





Then, the bite seemed to dry up.  I was ready to get off the river.  Was out before 12:30pm.  Nice morning outing.
