Ernie or Capt Mike (or anyone else for that matter)...I was wondering if that little building at the Slavens (Slavins?) boat ramp rents canoes/kayaks and if you knew of how I could find information about rental fees/opening times/etc? It looked like they had rentals but I wasn't sure.

They do have rentals but I do not know the name of the place. Capt. Mike is down at his place on the Piankatank...not sure if he's able to get on line.

Thanks Ernie, I hope Mike will have some more info when he gets back but I can wait. I'm going to FlyFest this weekend so I won't be able to rent anything and fish this weekend anyway...I'm excited to learn some stuff about fly fishing instead.

I really hope they have decent prices. I would love to be able to take my dad over there in a canoe or kayak sometime.

Different....Carl fishes with. Dr. Mo but he has met Chris Moe. Chris lives on Helen Creek which feeds in to the Patuxtent River in Solomons. Carl fishes for perch in that creek. They met because I had told Carl and Mo about Chris and they saw each other on the water one day.

I was going to go to Flyfest (originally on the 12th) but Carl has hoodwinked me to fish Weems Creek in Annapolis.

Confused yet?

Gotcha. I knew the "Mo" that Carl fished with lived near/in that area so that's why I asked.

by the way Ernie, what type of license would I need to fish out there at the Patuxent?

No license needed....IF, the boats you are on have boat licenses. I know two of the 4 boats and they are licensed....you should be OK.

What if I am not on a boat that is licensed? I don't want to force any boat assignments because I don't have a license and I would like to get one anyway for future use. Would a VA saltwater or tidal license (whatever it is that I need) be accepted under the reciprocity agreement or am I going to need a MD license?

I hope it worked out. How was the fishing on the rips? Whose boat were you on?

I got to fish on Chris' boat. Tough day of fishing out there. No fish but it was a nice day for a boat ride!

That's basically what we experienced Friday.

Chris is a great guy and that is a cool event he puts on. This year, it was lightly attended due to the fact that he had to change dates.

That rip that you guys fished can ve very productive some days. I caught a houndfish right off the rocks a year or two ago.
