Potomac River Outing

Took a new club member out on the river this morning.  He fished a club tournament with me last week and blanked while I was culling fish all day. Just couldn't get the hang of fishing grassbeds. Pulled up to a grassbed this morning and his first fish was a snagged yellow perch. After getting a fish in the boat, he got a little more confidence and started catching small bass. Still can't understand why he wasn't catching quality fish, as they were hitting me frequently.

Finally figured that since he was a lake angler, I needed to take him to an area that fishes like a lake. When we pulled up to some downed wood in 14 feet of water, his first cast produced a good keeper and they just kept coming. We did not stop catching fish until 4:30 when I finally called a halt as I had to work tonight. Caught over 50 bass with about 20 of them over the two pound mark. Most of them caught on weightless Yum Dingers in various colors. Had no chance at snakeheads as we were fishing deeper water.

Great Day......
