I met Curly at Jeff's house at 0445.....I was 30 minutes late due to setting the alarm clock incorrectly. Luckily, they were not too mad at me. We made good time to Deale and when we finally put in at the ramp, the bay was souped in....thick fog. As we left the harbor we slowly motored across the bay but as we got closer to the Easter Shore, the fog started to burn off.
We basically missed the pre-sun bite due to those two mishaps (there was a third that will go unmentioned).
I chose to target Poplar Island and started at the north end and worked the eastern bank. Towards the end of our final drift on that side, Jeff takes the skunk off with this striper.
What I really wanted to see were breaking fish but we did not see any i the morning. When we got to the southern side of the island, we started to mark lots of bait and what looked like to be croakers.....that's what they were and we started hauling them in!
In this set of drifts, Curly was killing us....he was hammering them!
After lunch, we saw some breaking fish so we headed over there but didn't do anything so we came back to the croaker fields and proceeded to catch some more. this time, Jeff had the upper hand! But...I managed to catch one on the fly rod!
After things slowed down (low tide) we started to look for breaking fish as we motored our way back. The next two hours was crazy....so much so that we only got one picture.
We started chasing down breaking fish. Jeff caught 2 keeper stripers as well as many other stripers and blues...on a top water plug in the middle of a sunny day. Incredible. He was chuckling like a kid.
Curly threw a variety of lures and hauled in a bunch of blues.
I decided to get low and fished a Specialized Baits Li'l Bunker and proceeded to wear out my arms. I caught some nice blues and a very nice striper that spit the hook right at the boat.
We caught 30+ fish in less than 2 hours, equaling what we caught in 5 hours.
By the way, Jeff had a 1st, he caught his 1st blue fish (and many more).
Some nice scenery as we came back.....
And the loot.....
We had quite a day and want to do it again...after we rest up a bit.
Simply a great day on the water!

Mo,
We did not fish out of Deale, we only put in there and ran across the bay, something Carl will not do!
It is not the same as Solpmon's but I am sure it's got white perch. The creeks are full of marina's and slips but there are some open areas. As well, there is a huge rip rap wall (2 of them) that I am sure hold perch and stripers.
Deale is 67 miles from my house, Solomons is close to 90!
