Bob Bondira (Bob B) and I have been trying to set a Washington Channel trip up on his pontoon boat for a while. After a few postponements, we finally settled on tonight. I met him at Columbia Island Marina (Carl's and my old stomping ground) after work.....
This is a perfect Potomac River fishing machine! We were running close to 30 knots!
....and within 30 minutes of departure.....FISH ON! A little undersized striper hit a Rebel and the skunk was off! Bob was pleased as he was learning the WC game!
A few minutes passd and the light rod goes down again and Bob got to reel in a nice blue cat (6 pounds or so).
But I wanted a keeper striper.....really bad.
Another rod went down, this time a small umbrella and this little guy was trying to eat it1
Finally, we got a really god hit and this 21 incher came aboard. We snapped the picture and back in to the Channel he went so Curly could catch him some other day.
As the sun started to go down, we got a huge knockdown and Bob wrestled a nice blue cat to the boat. As I was about to boga him, he broke off the Rebel...operator error. A few minutes later, another umbrella rod goes down and in comes this very nice 22.5 inch striper...he too went back in the drink!
For the evening, we managed 7 stripers and 2 blue cats so we were certainly satisfied with the pullage. Catching 2 keeper stripers was a plus.
Fishing on this rig is the life! He has reclining chairs, carpeted deck....it's an outstanding fishing platform. Thanks Bob for the invite and a great evening of fishing!!

Nice fish! Stripers are a ton of fun to catch.

Who said fishing was about the pleasures of life? Recliners? Carpeting? Next thing you know he'll rig a satellite and you all can fish on football sundays!

I will say this....there is NO football game that will ever interfere with my fishing!! I vote for no satellite....no radio either!

A big "thank you" to Ernie for the lesson in how to troll in the WC. It was different than how I had been doing it. And what a pleasant evening it was, nice weather... not too hot and not too much wind.
