Sunday Smith Creek excercise

I was really looking forward to yesterday's float, but at the last minute I had a chance to spend some one on one time with my oldest son Kevin. I've been telling him how much fun kayak fishing is and trying to get him to try it out. I saw on another forum that you could rent a Hobie at a place called Bluhaven Piers near Point Lookout. We spent the full six hours of a full day rental looking for white perch on Smith Creek.
Final tally was three perch from 10 - 11.5" and hopfully a kayak convert. Kevin said he enjoyed paddling the Hobie Outback more than pedaling it, and he's already searching for a yak.

Bluhaven Piers is a great facility. They have a full selection of Hobies to try out and a good stock of accessories on hand. Rumor has it that the perch fishing in the creek is usually very good, but obviously not yesterday. The creek is a good place for a test ride, lots of flat water and surprisingly little boat traffic. The rental rates were reasonable and for $50. you can take a Hobie with you for a 24 hour rental.
Here's a link if anyone is interested:

Re: Sunday Smith Creek excercise

I need to stay away from those Hobies...I know that if I tried one, I would want to buy it. One of my other passions is bike riding....

These 3 big perch would make a nice meal!

Time to go fishin' again!
