So my wife signed me and my daughter up for one of those Fairfax County Parktakes classes. An hour and a half on a jon boat at Riverbend. It ended up being well worth it. I didn't get much fishing in myself, but Gracie had a blast. We started off catching tiny bluegills and pumpkinseeds near shore. Many were so small that I wish we had brought a minnow bucket to bring them home to put in the aquarium. Maybe next time.
I couldn't fish at this point because I was too busy taking Gracie's fish off her hook.
By this point I was done with this action. I convinced her to let us move into some deeper water. She agreed and ended up landing her first ever smallie!
I got in on the action a bit too with this catch on a trick stick...
Gracie caught all hers on worms. I wanted her to throw some lures, but she's having trouble adapting to the new closed face trigger real that I bought for her. I'll have her practice in the yard this weekend. I finally had to upgrade her old Nemo setup.
I couldn't think of a better way to spend a Thursday evening.
