5-26-09, Cedar Lake in the mist report

I fished for a few minutes before dinner and caught one bass on a soft swim bait. I also missed 3-4 of them due to the fact I was using a weedless J hook.....I didn't set the hook...again!

After dinner, I brought out 4 baits: the swim bait, a buzz bait, a on a #10 circle hook (pearl 5" wacky worm & a 4" black w/red flecks wacky worm). Normally, I use a larger circle hook.

I caught the 1st fish with no problems and then I missed 2 or 3. Not sure it was because of the smaller hook. But then I started catching them for a total of 7 in an hour. Most were around 1 pound with two of them pushing 2 pounds.

I then ran in to Michael who was fly fishing. He hooked one immediately and then he started telling me about this fly he just tied on (earlier today). Right then, his 6 wt fly rod does the big bendaroo and I am thinking he has a nice bass on. Nope...he had on a dinner plate sized blue gill. Hopefully, Michael will be able to send me the picture he took. Nice BG!!

He also caught 3 bass after I left using the same home made fly!
