Alder Report - 051009

I went out and walked around Alder today to check on the impact the full moon and warmer temperatures may have had on the bass. As I thought, they were in full spawn effect. I must have seen at least 10-15 occupied beds. I fished in the middle of the day which may explain the tough bite, but I ended up with two keepers with the biggest going 1.5lbs.

I also walked around Beech and hooked into a few small bass, but I also saw a floating bass that was easily 3lb+. I saw a couple on beds in there, but not as many as in Alder.

If it were easy, they'd call it catching!

Watched a non-resident remove a 2 pounder.  He did not speak English and he did not understand my English.............or Spanish.  Tried to explain to him about not taking fish from the lake.  I wonder if any nice fish will be left in this lake by the end of the year? sad

Get a license # and report to police. You were a witness. They may not do anything but if we call each time we see this, they may take note.

Or....call me and I'll have a "chat" with him.

What about putting up signs with the regulations in English and Spanish in a few locations around each lake?

This is what we have recommended.

The next meeting of the lakes & Ponds is Wednesday at 7 PM at the Mills Rec center. Anyone can go and can state their opinion on this or other matters.

I have seen someone with a bucket just about every time I drive by Ashburn and Alder lakes. It's not the same people each time. I am afraid the word is out about the free food in Ashburn Village.

BTW - Here is a pic of the 1lb 8oz LMB. I flipped him on shore and he broke off hence all the rubbish on him.
