Set out this morning in search of Crappie in Alder and Beech and only caught (6) bluegill. This time last year, you could see the crappie roaming the shallows but I haven't seen one glimpse of Crappie yet.
Where are these fish right now? Has anyone here seen any? Maybe the weather has something to do with it.

John Odenkirk recommended that we take crappie out of our lakes....maybe we have!!??

I think the spawn may be a bit delayed this year due to the colder weather. Odenkirk said we may not clean out the Crappie entirely because they are so prolific but said we could thin them out.
I still think these ponds may still be loaded with them but I find it strange that I haven't seen a single one spawning the shallows as of yet. I'm predicting that it will be a May spawn for these guys this year.

Good prediction....same thing has happened to the white perch. Some folks think the run is done, some think it's about to start. This is one of the main reasons we like to fish...you just never know!!

Maybe they're enjoying a late Christmas, you guys gave them all those new trees
They should be around those trees!!
10 year old Brett Baily caught a nice crappie at Cedar. He fished the cove in his ususl spot. Bait was a piece of cut plastic worm, which he soaks in bologna juice, on a #6 hook.
