Someone posted this on another board: "the Potomac is running significantly lower than last year at this time, and even slightly lower than in 2006. Last year, the water at the gauge fell below 4.0 on about March 30 and stayed that way until around April 10th, I think. When I fished on April 3, it hit its lowest point (3.6). In 2006, the level went down to about 3.3 in late March/early April. Right now, we're at 3.1 and the 10-day forecast doesn't show enough rain to make a difference."
In 2006, Curly and I took the "Pacemaker" (19' CC boat) above Chain Bridge. We anchored on the DC/MD side and had a good time catching stripers, small catfish and a comorant in some swift current. That boat was very nimble and I could turn it on a dime to head back down river. I have been to scared to do that with my current boat (21' CC) so I will continue to fish the cove and below.

I have been watching the upper levels. Right now it's at summer level 1.7'
I am not sure if we can fish the "sunfish hole" this spring.

Maybe we will have to load the kayaks on your boat (or pull 'em) and use it as a Mother Ship!

The community lakes are down too. This sprinking rain didn't do much for us, but it also didn't hurt. I am sure we'll get some good rains in April to bring the levels up.

Those April monsoons will ruin the Fletcher's fishing....it's an amazing dynamic. That is why it's important to be versatile!

That's what I am worried about. It is a short window of opportunity.
