4-4-23, UP

With hitting the "O" two more times later this week, I wanted to stay local so Bob I hit the UP. It's rare that I hit the UP in late March or early April but we went anyway.

Water temps were 54dF+ when we started at 8...

...and 58dF when we ended at 1:15p.

And yes we had a full moon! mad

Bob stared out with a whopper plopper as if was fishing in May! lol Nothing hit.

We hit several spots and got a few nibbles. Towards the end, in a slack water area, Bob had a bite, a fish on and a follow but nothing to show for it.

The eddies were few and far between as the river level is dropping near 3' at POR.

But we stayed at it.

Later, Bob wanted to hit a certain area and I got a nice hit! Fish on! Rod is bennt and i am cranking it in!!! But he got off. That was the most exitement we had until after we retreived the boat.

So Pepe won this one!

We found some less clear water. That's where I lost my fish and Bob had a couple of hits. The river is at "normal" levels but I think the ticket (as you found out last week) is when we have rising water this time of the year.

I had to hustle out of there  to make an appointment. Ate a PB and sharp cheddar cheese sammie for lunch.

It's happened to me more than I even want to count this year so far (from shore).  Better to be out there though!

Without question!

While I may be disappointed in Pepe, I LOVE being out on the water especially when it's nice out.

I've never heard of that combination of food, PB and cheese. I'm curious now...

We eat PB & cheese crackers right? Try PB w/ cheese on bread. Has always has been my favorite.

Next time try a PB, mayo and bread/butter pickles.
