Occoquan on April 3

Sorry, no pictures...just a short report. My friend Roney and I hit the Occoquan yesterday from 9am until noon. Cold and windy day made it tough for us. We did manage to get 16 hickory shad with most of them 16+". Biggest was 19" and most fish were good fighters full of eggs, heavy and healthy looking.

Water condition looked pretty good, but temperature was only 55. About half the fish came on shad darts and the other half on gold or copper colored spoons. No doubles. We saw about 10 other boats during the morning with most fishermen only having occasional catches. Nice lunch at 5 Guys on the way home, despite their slow service.

Good on ya!  Always tough in the wind.  The shad sizes are nice since it makes for a great fight.
