John and his son were going to spend 3 days fishing with Capt. Craig Korczynski so I got an invite to join one of the days and I took it. I also got to go down there early and visit my mom.
We met at the dock at 8a...
...it was gonna be hot (93-94) with some breeze.
We hit the 1st spot...
...looking for tarpon. A few came out from under the boats but we found no love.
On to the next spot which meant going out of the inlet and heading south to the Palm Beaches. He has a few holes there but when we got there the water was dirty and there was a ton of Sargassum (brown algae that forms a unique and highly productive floating ecosystem on the surface of the open ocean). When you find this is deeper water, you can bet that dolphin fish will be cruising under it.
After the ride back, we settled in on the south WPB jetty and had us a Snook Fest!
See a theme here?
It was fun getting Reagan on some fish!
His dad was proud!
The boat next to us had a blast as well!
A few more shots...
BTW, they way Craig handles releasing these snook is impressive. You would think he knows them personally. Opposite of that was the guy next to us who would head 1st them down like if they were tuna. We saw 2 or 3 floating by...
We then went looking for more tarpon deep inside but found no love. I had a huge hit on my Surface Tension lure (using a baitcaster) but I never hooked up. John threw the fly and got no love as well.
We moved from there and then caught a few more species including a blue runner (no pic) and a hound fish (lost pic)..
We called it a day just before 3p.
Interestingly, it was only hot when we hit the ramp pavement. We had a slight breeze all day (or we would create our own by running). It was so nice out!
Another great day out with Capt. Craig! What a blast!
We drove 40+ for dinner in Ft. Lauderdale. This family owned Greek restaurant is top notch!
Yes, I forgot the food pic! We had kalamari, Octopus, lamb, stuffed tomatoes and peppers etc.

Looks like a blast! Nice snook. Shame on the guy not reviving them. 40 miles after a long day of fishing, food better be good. Great report!

They were at 'em again today!
Bull shark time!
Capt. Craig is an accomplished videographer. He's in the water staring at that beast!
