4-13-22, "O"

Bruce had a tough morning. It took him twice as long to get to Roney's house due to a flipped car somewhere on Rt. 15. Then, as he was holding my boat at the dock, his phone went into the drink... mad

I knew that all I had to do now was get them on fish and all would be well.

Bob was at the ramp as well and we helped each other get boats in the water.

He got to his spot and didn't stray far from it the whole time we could see him.

There weren't many people on the water yet. Pete O'dell and a buddy were fly fishing from their inflatable yaks. Nice vessels. They were catching.

We decided to go up past the foot bridge and we were the only ones there.

Bruce actually took the skunk off and for some reason, I didn't take his picture. I told him I would get the next one but...it never happened. Not catching a fish but me taking the pic!

Roney got on the board next...

I then got snagged...nope, it's moving.

I thought it rolled but when we started to get him close...

...it was a 9.98lb carp!

That was a blast but a tough battle on the L stick!

I finally got my shad skunk off.

Things stared heating up and we were too busy catching! And me? I was busy taking all of the fish off the hooks. Roney does not like to handle fish and Bruce just played along. The inside tips of my fingers are frayed! But I had a great time!!

We scored 6 doubles (two anglers hooked up)...

...but could never finish a triple.

We did come down and fish where Bob was but there were too many boats (a dozen) for me so back up we went. And we hammered them. Slow retrieve, quick jerks...it all worked.

We called at at noon since Bruce eats very early (dinner at 4:30p). hmm

They were satisfied!

After retrieving the boat, we headed up to Brickmaker's but they had a 30 minute wait as they were short staffed today. So we decided to hit 5 Guys but they were closed due to a pluming issue. Rather than waiting, we went next door to Squisito's. We all had a steak and cheese. They were tasty but they were light on the innards. Kinda disappointing.

Regardless, we had full bellies and went on our way.

Bruce was kind enough to pay for the ramp fee and lunch and then asked about gas money. I said that we probably used $.40-.60 worth of gas on our idle up and back. Maybe a dollar.

I got the dollar!

lol

In all fairness, Bruce always makes sure that I am "covered" so this was just me messin' with him

Fishing with Bruce and Roney is always a blast. We were giddy with the number of fish we caught. No clue how many because we lost count early. We didn't care. We just laughed the morning away...

Thanks E.

You guys sounded like a bunch of giggling school girls from 1/4 mile away Today was an excellent day. My final was 78 without landing a single double header. When we went up the creek there was 1 boat and 2 yaks already there. When I landed on that mass of fish I was surrounded by 6 boats, all less than a cast away. It was working till one couldn't stand it and drifted over the exact spot where my darts were landing. That ended the bite, it was more than an hour before I found another little spot that I managed to keep to myself.

Those same guys came up our way and when they left, they cut in  right where we were casting. Nice fellas but clueless! lol

They left the lower when I pulled in beside them and spot locked to eat my sub. I didn't miss them even a little.

I think that our exuberance attracted a  few boats. Burned our spot! lol It was just us and a yak for a while.

Re: 4-13-22, "O"

I always say that Ernie doesn't give a fishing report, he tells a story! And the only thing questionable about this tale is why I have no "catching photos." Perhaps it was because I caught so many large ones that it would have made his fish look small. Or perhaps it was because the size of my fish wouldn't fit into the frame of the camera. Or perhaps it was because I caught so many that he got bored taking my picture. Or perhaps that my youthful looks would have made him look older than me, when in fact the opposite is true. Well, none of those are possible since the truth is that I caught the fewest fish of anyone...just one of those days. Even without as many fish as Roney or Ernie, I had a great time on the water...enjoying the company and the shared stories, watching all of the waterfowl activity, trying to remember how to back up the trailer, etc. Ernie always finds a way to make fishing a special day for all of his guests. Many thanks...

Wait...I remember why I didn't take your pic. I was so busy releasing shad (my hands can prove it) that I never thought of taking the pics.

You sir, were the unofficial official photographer and you did a great job!

Re: 4-13-22, "O"

yup, 91. Last 3 trips were 70, 78 and 91. Difference this trip was that most were above the foot bridge. Water temp was up to 63.2 at noon. Like you said, it was a beautiful day to fish. Hope this coming Wed. as as good.
