Well...I guess I won't be going down there any time soon. Forecast is too cold most days.

Ugggh. Over a week now..............14 degrees this morning.

And it will be a while longer. Might hit 60 next Thursday but that won’t make a dent unless it stays that way for a bit. Ugggh is right!

Potomac at Seneca was frozen from bank to bank this morning. Brrrr

No school for Benjamin today, so we ventured out a little breaking ice. You can see a thawed area behind Benjamin and I was hoping it was thin out towards the middle. Turned around after about 100yds as the ice got to almost 1/2" thick......Too thick for me to continue breaking it up...............maybe a thaw sometime in Feb? Bet the AV ponds are frozen solid!

The lake will open to you soon

Cedar is frozen except for where the fountain and bubblers are. The fountain was moved a bit to the west and there is some open water around it.

Frozen in 2 weeks as of today............and the groundhog says 6 more weeks of winter
At least the days are getting much longer!

Thawed around the dock and cove, so ventured out to see what the situation was. I could see that someone had broken ice a day or so ago and headed for that trail down the middle.
Had to have been a crazy person that broke the ice....2+" chunks up on top of the sides of the path. 1/4"-1/3" is my limit. Followed the trail to Tim's Restaurant and could see the person had come from somewhere down lake well past Tim's. Turned around in a small open spot and came back to my dock. Might be a couple more weeks?

Looks like you were locked and loaded!

Warm rain will loosen things up and then a re-freeze this weekend. Next week's temps look better.

Nights well below freezing next 2 weeks.

Lakes stay more static. Our river will rise with the rain. Some or most of the ice will melt but it will most likely break up and get swept away.

Got a report this happened when I was going to fish yesterday. Ended up cancelling because of the rain. Kayak would have made it, but not sure if I wanted to fish in rain all day in the low temps.
How far were you able to get Curly? Any fish?

Not far enough (<1/2 mile) to open water that is about 4-5 miles east. Nowhere to cast.......all solid.
