George and I have been hiking at lunchtime once or twice a week, when weather permits.
We were scheduled for today because the original forecast called for temps in the mid 40's. Well, it was 35df when we started and ended but I was dressed properly so no big deal. Plus, I wore my new waterproof socks (they are toasty warm).
The idea of the hike is to get exercise so we walk at a brisk pace.
Typically, we encounter many folks with dogs and George always stops to chat with them. "Hi puppy", is his intro.
Today, he was was in front of me when he said, "hi puppy" and we encountered two dogs on one leash.
Only issue was...no owner. We stayed there for a few minutes with the dogs and also hollered and whistled to see if we could locate the owner. Did not happen.
Luckily, one of the tags had the owners phone # and I was able to locate hm. We walked the dogs back to our vehicles and reunited them with Mike, the owner.
He could not understand how they got that far away from him but I am glad that George is a dog whisperer. Good deed done!

Wife txted me "don't let them follow you home!"
Fortunately Ernie finally got the owner and we reuniting them.
I got the workout walking both of them back to the parking lot - great dogs, they kinda listened. Most of the time.

I thought the dogs were great. They followed your lead as they pulled you. A few sniffs and pee stops but generally just great dogs!

Happy they are safe. Two dogs leashed together and on their own can get into a bunch of trouble. Love me a sweet Swiss Mountain Dog mix.

Good job on the save. Glad it worked out. What is the brand on the waterproof socks?

These socks are amazing. George and I power hiked for 70 minutes today. In 22dF temps! As G said, I earned my man card today.
My feet were toasty as we were walked on frozen ground. Dressing properly is the deal.
Never felt the cold!

We are walking around Algonkian but we didn’t go along the river. However, a lot of the slower, shallow water areas have ice.

I got a pair but have not tried them yet. Will do so soon. You going yesterday is quite the feat!

I was dressed right and actually got hot while walking. Had to zip down the layers. Wind is not a factor while in the woods.
But…I bet it would have been really cold while in a open boat in the middle of the river…not being able to move around.

Is the river frozen yet?
I drove over Point of Rocks today and there were icebergs everywhere. Not quite frozen from bank to bank, but about 70%
And the Monocacy is about 90% frozen over

I saw the same on my way to Frederick.

Wife and I were walking through the neighborhood and came across a stray boxer. Another guy we knew was following it and asked for our help.
We cornered the dog and it was miserable. Freezing. And just wanted some relief. I took my jacket off and covered the dog while the other guy read off his phone number. Dog's name was Thor. Owner again called back within 5 minutes but was not close to home. She gave us her address and told us the doors not locked. When we got to the front door I rang the doorbell and the dog started barking. We knew then that this was his home. We let the dog in and closed the door behind us, but it was strange her telling us to just open the door to her house and let him in.

Glad the dog whisperer was in the ‘hood! Good on you guys.
Weird about the open door…

That boxer was freaked and skittish. I usually leave them alone, but it was so miserable it "warmed" up to us. Glad it wasn't outside freezing and shivering

Just don't start doing commercials asking for $19/month, LOL. Great job!

You can make sure a lost dog is feed and warm for just $9 a month .....

George and I did a new to us hiking section today...a bit hilly but we survived. On the way back (much easier) George found an item.
It's always something!
