5-28-21, Out of Solomons

It was an early meet up for me and John as we arrived at the ramp at 0530.  We were fishing with our friend Brady.

The forecast looked like it was going to hold out for us with fairly light winds and the rain holding out until past 2p.

Our plan was fly only so off we went!

Mo's house is in the picture somewhere!

You can kinda tell where out 1st stop was...

When we got there, the wind was up way more than the predicted 6-8mph. John threw the fly rod and I decided not to pierce anyone and threw the spinning rod. Here, we caught a few small fish but nothing off size. We did not want to jig the outflow so over to the other side we went. It took a while to get there as we could not run too fast due to the chop caused by the NE wind (then changed to SE)! I hate anything with E on it but Brady said that was a good thing for where we were going.

Our crossing took a while as we could only do about 15mph in the slop.

Once over on the eastern side, we started fishing again and started catching!

John got a real nice trout on the fly!!

We explored some new areas..

But the wind was a real PIA!

So we went in some more into Wallace Creek. I have never been there but got exited when Brady said there were some nice white perch in there! And we could hide from the wind!

Brady got the biggest perch at 11.25"!

I had to get back so I could pick up my boat at D & S so we headed back. As we crossed through the Honga River, it was very choppy and we were nervous about what we might see when we got to the bay.

Luckily, it was not bad and we could do 22mph most of the way back.

As we entered the Pax River, we saw the rain clouds and it was evident that we were running into it so a soaking was inevitable.

But...we got back safe and all of us enjoyed a great day on the water and got to fish some new places.

Water temps hovered around 72df all day. We caught fish with jigs (George Lenard's Li'l Jimmy, fly and Brady's special 1/4oz perch spinnerbait).
