5-4-21, "O"

Bob and I met up at 7:15a and Tom showed up just as we were putting in...

...what a boat!!

We went to our usual stop and it didn't take long to get into catchin' but it was not the targeted species.

Sure, we had fun catching herring but at the end of the day, we were disappointed. It appears that the "O" shad run is over and out!

Here  is our picture story!

We were able to catch 70 fish today, most were herring. I think we caught maybe a 1/2 doz. shad along with a couple of stripers and a nice blue gill (Bob caught all of those).

We ended up early (just after noon) and hit Brickmakers...

...which did not disappoint!

So...what do we chase now?

Well, now I wish I made Brandon stay out with me longer last week. I ended up with about 18 fish, only 2 hickories, one of which was a good size one about 16".

I thought I had found them when I got 2 of them back to back, but then I had a conference call at 9:30AM, and then older gentlemen on the kayak who rowed right on top of the spot where I was catching them seemed to throw off me off their trail. Fun day though of catching, and beats sitting around at home waiting for calls and emails.

Brickmaker's didn't disappoint again, and it was good to finally meet Bob.

I'll be chasing LMB and SH if the temps keep climbing like this.

And I forgot to add that "rock man" came up when we had slipped down for a bit. He parked right by Tom.

I talked to him when he came by and then he took off. I guess he didn't like catching herring. He keeps the hicks for bait but I think herring are better.

That is too bad about the shad.  I was hoping to get out this week.  I had appointments today.  Nice catching!

"Rock man" is a good name for that guy.  His secret spoon is a #13 Luhr Jensen Pet Spoon in gold.  Hard to find.

Very traditional shad spoon...may have a few laying around.

The original name for those were Tony Acetta Pet spoons I would guess he was using size 12 or maybe 13, a 14 would be way too big.
