8-18-20, Chesapeake Bay

Bob and I wanted to try some of our known spots out of Chesapeake Beach so off we went!

The goal was to look for bigger perch. We would try many different spots!

The tide was unusually high and we only got a few perch at the jetty but the skunks came off quickly!

But no tourney entries here.

Oh...and Bob got a croaker as well.

We decided to make the long run to the Spanish house and we did well there and in the surrounding areas. The wind kicked up a bit and we had some oleage (Spanish word for swell). Must of the fish were close to and over 10" but we could not get one bigger than 11'!

We did try the lee side of Holland point and found a few places that held nice perch but there were only a few willing ones. They were pile driving some pier posts so we didn't hang around more.

Bob then said, "how far is the Deale jetty from here?". By then the wind had calmed down and we made another long run.

Total disappointment! The jetty only gave up a few fish and the old house the same.

But Bob did score a redfish!

We started to head back and I wanted to make one last stop.

Here, we encountered, white perch, stripers and red fish.

I caught 3 reds here...

We fished a little more and called it a day just after 2p.

We caught lots of fish! The eating quality was there but the tourney quality was not.

Great day out for sure!

Time to go fishin' again!

Nice day to be on the water. Those reds must have been fun on perch tackle.

Together we'll fight the long defeat.

Most definitely. The hit hard and fight hard. Wishing they were 13" perch though....

They are around...just need to put the time in.

The smaller perch are more aggressive and get to the lures before the big ones. Catching big ones takes more patience because you have to fish slower....

That just doesn't feel like a perch on the line ....
