I've been wanting to fly fish the NF for sometime now. Yesterday was the day.
I had some wade spots lined up after learning about access at a class I went to last winter at Murray's fly shop.
Very slow start. I could see ALOT of smallies in the clear water but they wouldn't chase streamers nor eat anything off the bottom.
It took a quick rain shower to turn them on and then I was catching a smallie or sunny every other cast, on a Joe's trout spinner of all things.
Nothing big to report but lots of fish. The stretch I fished was gorgeous. Perfect smallmouth habitat, clean water.
Nothing better than wading a smaller flow in the summer.

Darryl- tell us about the wading you did. Pebble? Sand? How deep was the water? Did you wear any special shoes?

Ernie, it was mostly cobble rock with alot of limestone shelves and ledges. I waded into a few holes that were deceivingly over my shoulders.
Shaded banks with wood always held fish.
I have been wading with a pair of Caddis Neoprene Flats Wading Shoes. I like them they keep the sand out and have a rugged sole.
