Finally...back out on the water.
Greg and I met up and put in at Occoquan Harbor Marina (tight ramp, $15) and were on our way a little after 8a.
The tide hit low at 7:30a so I know we were in for a slow start.
On my 1st cast, I hit pay dirt with a nice white perch!
My skunk was off and a few minutes later, Greg did the same!
But it was not what we were after.
I then caught my 1st shad which was a nice one but somehow, the camera man missed it.
So I started to do DrXfish shots...
It was slow going for a bit and I decided to speed jerk my retrieve and I caught a couple of more. I now led Greg by a couple and I was hoping for a rout.
But Greg is a great student and mimicked my retrieve and started a run (including 3 doubles) that I could never get near!
And he also got 2 big ones, one at 17" and the other 1 1/4" bigger!
Then I got a double striper hit!
Things really started to slow down around 11a so we made some moves but came back to the honey hole.
We picked of a few more but I was able to semi redeem myself by catching this 18" beauty!
A good friend, Rob Snowwhite had a client out and we got them in action...
...and he got us.
He also took this eagle shot...
...and I got it when he landed.
All in all...a GREAT day!
Very little shore traffic and no yaks or boats to deal with.
Water temps were 61-62df for the time we were there. W left around 1p.
Later, I got this pic from my nephew who was hiking with his son in a nearby (Arlington) creek.
I believe that is a water moccasin about to eat a carp (or channel cat).

Great job! Awesome pics!

Great report! That flying bald eagle picture is pretty neat because the rocks are in a similar color pattern as the bald eagle.
