I was able to get out for a few hours this morning before the heat set in. I got on the water by 5:30am and the sunrise was beautiful.
I tried topwater, but no takers. I finally got bit on a crappie jig by a 12 incher. I moved around and tried a few different spots. I had one small LM bite, but got off at the boat. Ended up with only 3 smallies, all small. I saw so many cormorants (20-30) and blue herons (10+). They seemed to be eating and I saw 2 herons with small fish. One was a catfish about 8 inches long. Fishing is definitely off and I got off the water about 10am before it got too hot. Water temp was around 80.
