I think we need to go to MN to catch some fish!
John and I were on some new water (for the sled) by 6:30a.
And it did not take too long for John to get the skunk off the boat. He caught this guy on a buzz bait...
... which would be the only lure he would catch fish on today.
I was up next, catching this guy on a paddle swim bait.
John kept catching on the buzz bait...
...including a 15.75"er!
I caught another one on my same bait.
All told, John caught 5 on the buzz, and me? Just the two.
All the fish were caught by 10:30a and things shut down when the wind picked up as the high pressure front moved it.
We found lots of great looking water, saw eagles, deer etc.
Some cool structure....
When we came back to the ramp, we talked to a few others and they struggled as well with less catching than what we did.
Beautiful stretch of the river and we got to explore and run through some really skinny water!

Thanks for taking me on your exploration expedition, Ernie! It started out pretty promising with early bites and topwater action. It was weird the way the bite shut down. Beautiful day to be out and your sled did great!

I guess this makes me feel better ...report from a fella on the UP: "Anyone else having trouble finding some bass the last past couple of days? Skunked three days in a row on the upper Potomac"

The tree in the pic is called a strainer by river rats. The structure in the last pic. What is it? A water lift?

Water intake of some sort, we could hear a pump.

Good job trying out new water

It's funny, I never do very well on river smallies in June for whatever reason. I do best in the humid, stagnant days of late summer. Thanks for the report.
