Today was a rarity...fishing on a Saturday. I got to the ramp around 7:40a to a big surprise...NO other boat trailers. I was shocked.
I was cool (45df) and foggy but no rain or wind.
Bob wanted to try the island and we did so for a bit. He had a bite there.
We also hit the ledge. Bob had a bite there.
We then moved over to his landmark and each of us had one on but we did not land them. On mine, I had the drag set real light and when I set the hook it was almost slack. Operator error!
On to the the bottom of the chute, I don't think we got any bites there.
We then hit the rocks and Bob got a bite there.
I experienced something very weird. I was casting my 6' bait caster and somehow, someway it got away from me and went into the drink. What? We spend 45 minutes trying to get it back. I did have it up at one point but it did not stay buttoned up.
We then decided to hit another place on the other side of the river. Good move...for me anyway.
I was using a Curly Special (Black/Blue Pig & Jig) and I hooked into a decent fish...17"! It hit nice...not real hard but enough to know to set the hook.
Bob got another bite.
A few minutes later, I felt something at the end of my line. It was not a bite but I set the hook anyway on this 16.75" LMB!
I thought we had found them but that was it although Bob did get a couple more bites.
Frankly, I do not know where the fish are in our area. I do believe they are in a hole behind a big rock but we don't have these in our section.
Still, a great day to be out.
There were a few boats cat fishing (tourney) and we saw a couple of other boats but that was it.
The jet skiers started buzzin' around 1-2pm.

Nice fish! I am going to get out for a few hours tomorrow morning. Maybe I'll catch your rod!
