I have an extra long weekend so I decided to go to Pohick to see how it was looking. That place changes every year. It seems that alot of the areas with spatterdock are more or less land now. The deeper channels are pretty much all filled in. I couldn't get back to one area because of these changes. If I really wanted to I could plow through the spatterdock, but after an hour it's likely I wouldn't be able to get out.
I started catching immediately. First was this
Followed by a bigger one getting off my worm while I was trying to get my net. Later broke off another good one when I making sure of a good hook set.
I caught several of these little guys.
At low tide I focused on snakeheads, with both my rod and bow. I spotted a bunch of them and got of a few shots, though my position was off and it was a gamble between shooting or trying to get a closer or better position and possibly losing the shot all together. I did get one really good opportunity and I nailed it. I have some of it smoking on the grill right now.

That's a good day! I did not even bring my small cranks today and I regretted it. Enjoy the snakehead!
