6-7-17, UP

When we got to the ramp at 6a, a dark cloud hung over us and soaked us for a bit. But Paul Naj and I were fishing by 6:30a and we didn't care that we were getting wet.

Luckily that passed and we got some clearing.

Paul had a short window (until 11:30a) and we were hoping to get on a few.

While the fish were not big (except for his feisty 16"er).....

....Paul was able to manage a super duper slam (LMB, SMB, BG, Rock Bass, warmouth, channel cat).

We fished in a few places and caught fish in most of them, we probably totaled 15-16.

I was able to get 2 of them in the last place before we had to leave, one was @14".

I will be taking more of these short excursions on the home river as we get better acclimated to where the fish hang out.

Definitely a fun and productive morning.

Fun morning on the water, for sure. We had a lot of fish and better sized ones located fairly early and it had the potential to be an amazing day of fishing, but as soon as the wind blew up against the current that bite ended and we had to go searching.

I learned today that if Ernie hooks a really small fish that he does what he can to shake the fish off the hook before it comes in the boat. This isn't so he doesn't injure the fish or get get his hands dirty, it's because he doesn't want you to get a picture of him catching small fish. ;-)

I never noticed that, but you better believe I'll be watching in the future. Glad to see you guys had a good morning.
