Got out in the higher, muddy water with Emerson at about 8:20am. We were using high visibility baits and tried swimbaits, grubs, craws and I used spinnerbaits and crankbaits as well. After switching from a swimbait to a white fat albert grub with the tail spiked chartreuse, Emerson hooked something big. It took a while to get it in, but he fought it like a champ and followed instruction. Finally, we could see the fish and it was a ...big flathead catfish! It measured 30" and was probably close to 10 lbs. His biggest fish yet!
A bit later, he caught a smallie with a keitech swimbait.
I ended up catching one on a spinnerbait, one on a swimbait and another on a grub. Nothing over 13". Bite shut down after about 11:30am when the wind picked up and it was getting hot. We were off the water by 1:00pm.

Oh, yeah. He caught it on 6lb. test!! I was corrected that it is not a flathead, which is actually a good thing for the UP. Huge head and about 6" across mouth threw me off.
