Fish don't always follow the rules

Buddy and I hit a VA river on Saturday.  River was up, pushy, stained, and the wind was forecasted to be 12-15 mph, but it felt like that forecast was low.  Still managed to get catch fish.  Everything came on a green pumpkin/red flake tube with a 1/8th oz tube jig I pour.  Odd thing was the pattern for the day was push water.  Isn’t that an early fall pattern?  Well, guess the fish don’t read the book.

Got quite a few cookie cutter sized small mouth

And one nice size large mouth – again in push water.  Go figure?

Nicely done.....I actually thought about fishing push deep water when I went out a couple of weeks back but water in the fuel system stopped us from doing that. BTW, that problem has been solved.

I am expecting you to guide me on some nice Smallies on Friday. No pressure!

I'll do my best Ernie.  You showed me the ins and outs of white perch fishing, so to help you on the river is the least I can do.

Way to go, George!  Shows me for waiting until Sunday and fishing at Occoquan Reservoir which was heavily stained and the fish were lock-jawed.  Good call and nice fish!
