I am in Key Biscayne FL, visiting my mom before the Wounded Heroes fishing event in Jupiter on Monday. The event may be cancelled as Jupiter is Mathew's land target. It will depend on damage and availability of utilities.
We are in the clear of direct hit unless Matt decides to make a 90* left turn. Currently, is is dead east of us in the Bahamas. But we expect winds up to 65 mph.
Storm shutters have been deployed....very dark in the apartment (2nd floor).

We are hunkered down in the dark. Eerie but so far....nada. I went to the beach this morning and the water was nervous with some bandy winds.
Highlights so far- moms cooking. We are clearing out her freezer.

Looks like we will be spared...winds now forecasted at 35. Jupiter and other points north of it will get slammed.

My sister and BIL had to evacuate from Crescent Beach. They're staying with friends in Inverness. As long as the ICW doesn't rise more than 4-5ft above spring tide height, flooding shouldn't be an issue for their house. It's fairly shielded from winds from the north and east. They spent 6 hours boarding the windows and putting away anything that could be blown around.

Prep time is crucial. We now have winds of 36 but that will be the most we get. Until he decides if he wants a return appearance.

This was a non event for Key Biscayne. Totally missed us. But, they got everyone to prepare properly. Just like up north, if it doesn't happen then people don't heed the next time.

My sister and BIL got lucky. There was about three feet of water surrounding their house judging by the debris left on the fence. Very little water got in the house, probably more due to wind. That got soaked up by some rugs and pillows they left on the floor. The water came up to the very bottom of their raised AC unit and a power box, just shy of where it could get in the house. Their shed was well flooded and lots of plants dying off now because of the salt.
But lots of neighbors had up to four feet of water in their houses. There were large piles of damaged drywall and other stuff all over the neighborhood.
Got in some fishing at Daytona Speedway while I was down there. Caught a gar that was about 4ft long. Luckily it was able to get off on it's own so I didn't have to drag to the end of the lake where I could get at water level. Then my fiance caught a nice bass, about 3lb.
Fished twice in a creek that leads into the ICW. First day I caught two reds and my first speckled trout. Nothing the next day.
