Today, Bob and I took the Hobie PA's out in search of some monster perch. It was a beautiful morning....
.....except for a full frontal of east wind!
We had rollers up o 2' coming in between the jetty.
We got through it and started working the lee of the wood wall. We both got nipped a few times. Bob cught a small perch and I caught an almost 10 incher (white perch).
These guys were active at the mouth of the jetty, where it was a washing machine!
Bob then ventured out to the north rocks and soon I followed suit.
We each got nipped and all I got was this guy....
....and a small striper.
I then decided to fish inside the creek while Bob stayed out.
Not too much later, my rudder was jamming (as was the wind) so I called it a day.
Bob stayed out and we chatted for a bit as it started to lay down some.
On the way home, I get a call and Bob advises me that he caught "a 13.5 incher.....with a spit on the tail". He had me for a moment....rat red!
The Hobie performed well through the waves...never rocked or rolled even though a few waves came over the bow.

Nice perch, as always. Been hearing about a lot of rat reds this year. Next year should be good!

Too bad about the wind. Glad you got out.

Would be nice to get them back....I heard of some huge red drum caught from Pt. Lookout all the way to Flag Harbor.

Made things interesting but showed why those Hobies are so nice. Mine is an oldie but a goodie!
