Decent Fish on a New Lure

Got out for a morning trip on the Upper Potomac Sunday before the crowds.  The water is still high, but clearing and it was a beautiful morning.  The fish were not biting anything I was offering and I finally decided to anchor near shore and reassess my options.  I had bought a Rebel big craw a while back and was giving it a try and had it on my DR rod.  I decided to throw that and bring it back up against the current.  It is a little large, has a big bill and a relly pronounced wobble.  It was digging nicely against the rocks and on about my third cast, I hooked a good fish.  It turned out to be a healthy 17"er that pulled hard with the stronger current.

I caught one more smaller fish on the big craw and then when the sun got up a bit, the bite got even tougher.   I caught only one other fish on a little crank.

I also saw a bunch of these birds (heard the flock first).  Some sort of Waxwing?  Really cool colors.

Fished until noon and got off the water unscathed by the yahoos...

Nice....please tell me that the current would have made yaking a no fun situation.
