Today promised to be a spectacular day....
....as Bob and I splashed the Targa this morning.
But we did not get far as she did not want to start. It sounded like the kill switch was off but no matter what we did, nothing.
So.....we celebrated Bob's birthday on the boat while tied up to the pier. And then he told me he had not fished for shad at Fletcher's since he was a kid! Now I feel bad but there was nothing we could do but to get the boat back on the trailer. We thought that might be a chore without a motor bur she slipped in easily and off to D & S for repairs I went!
Interestingly, for the last 2-3 years, I've been on travel when the Fletcher's fishing was good in April. And when I would return, it would be washed out.
This week, I had 3 shad trips planned. Perfect (well, still chilly) weather and now...no boat. Oh well.....

It was the no spark of high heeled outboards...tada tada tada.
See what I did there?
I have a trip for shad on 21st.. hope it is not over by then.. The Americans are always last to show and they will be my target.

I think we are still good for shad for a while. Cold weather slowed down the Americans although a batch did come through.
Some decent stripers are still being caught from shore and boat.
I will be back!

Not being one to rush into things, I probably wouldn't have been able to handle catching a bunch of shad. On a brighter note, the lawn has been mowed.

Got the call from D & S and the boat is out of the hospital. Fix was easy but the diagnosis was difficult.
There was enough power for the engine to crank but no spark. Modern engines are smart and it could tell something was not right. But a jay had to find it. The battery read strong but in the end, one of the cells was bad and at was enough to prevent a spark from occurring.
The keys of boat ownership.....back in business next week!
