John Nguyen, Len Kay and I met at Gravelly at 7am and were on our way upriver in no time.
Forecast called for 20+ mph winds and T-Storms! LIARS!! They have NO clue what they are talking about!
We did get a brief period (20 minutes) of light rain, but barely enough to get the rain gear wet.
Shad was the game today.....
We pulled up to our 1st spot right at the mouth of the cove, John set a perfect anchor and we never moved from there.
I caught this fatty on light spinning tackle right away....
John followed with a fly caught Hickory!
And Len with his (spinning)!
I then switched to the fly and it was game on!
This one was a beast!
We caught many a Hick....maybe 70 maybe more.
It did slow after the tide changed but we never considered moving as we were the only boat in that spot.
As a mater of fact, there were very few boats out today. The lying weathermen/women scared everyone away.
The wind was not a factor. T-storms were not a factor. Rain was not a factor.
But we did have a great time smoking some nice stogies and catching our fill of baitfish!
We did throw a few jigs at times but we were not in the area we needed to be for that.
Great day indeed!
