I know some people stop fishing for certain species in the summer due to survivability even after C&R. I was wondering about this after fighting some decent (for a tiny river) smallmouth on Labor Day when it was 95F in the air. Should I have been out at all? SMB are much tougher and less temperature fussy than say trout. Any thoughts?

Hot still water is where I get concerned......
I try not to target stripers in the heat of the summer....unless I need 1-2 for the table.
