Potomac Pike

Some visual clues from Sunday night has me thinking the fish are getting ready to spawn again this week. On Saturday they where grouped up and very active. On Sunday they just did not chase and we saw a bunch in pairs.

Normal spawn time is about 8-10 days so that puts them ready for the extreme tides at the end of the month and a good bite..

We shall see this weekend with low tides at dark..

Just thinking aloud..

Re: Potomac Pike

Fish of a thousand casts one of my clients said the weekend before. He said got 200 casts in at home before he showed up. And he caught a PP.

Re: Potomac Pike

My son, his GF ands I made that many casts as well on Saturday. No PP and only a few half hearted nips at our baits. And this was in a creek that I know holds fish...I saw them. They just snubbed us.

Re: Potomac Pike

I need to put the ultra-lite away and do a striper trip just so I'll be ready to throw a frog on a bait caster. I like the way Capt Mike just put all that pressure on himself. Probably didn't realize any clients would see his post.

Re: Potomac Pike

Bob I put all the responsibility on myself.. The proper coaching and calling the cast out is my goal each and every trip. Last week I sat down and put some new designs together for a better bait. A bait that would have some flash and pa-nosh. It came out very well but needs to be a bit smaller for proper use. Also I bought a few of these as a new way to entice a bite.

Since nobody but you two read this I feel safe the secret will not get out. This thing after testing clacks and flashes as it skitters along.

My new design will also be tested this weekend.

Make that 5. Your secret is safe with me though. I don't get out that often, nor do I talk about fishing with folk except those on this forum and a few friends I try to get into fishing smile

Re: Potomac Pike

My wife saw the frogs on my desk at home..She said "they look like toys you buy at the dollar store..
And they have metal feet.. boy they saw a sucker in you"

I had to laugh.
Just wait till I can put these in my clients hands and catch a Potomac Pike. Yeah...

Ya, but I don't know Capt Mike like many of you do.  So, I feel like a lurker when he starts giving away secrets!

Re: Potomac Pike

Yesterday I saw a nice size snakehead way up the Rappahannock river 30+ miles above the fall line. Amazing how far they've traveled.
