Since we were fishing with the youngsters ( Mustafa's boys, Zayn and Ameen who are 9 and 7 years old), we did not get to Truxtun Park until close to 8:30 and the place was packed!
But, we had a great crew on board and were ready to roll.
In less time than it takes most, these guys took the skunk off at the condos!
We then slowly motored out of the creek while Ameen manned the wheel as he starts his Captain's training.
Oue 1st stop was the radio towers but it was slow so we went out in the bay as it was calm.
I asked the boys if they wanted to try a new spot so we moved up just below the BB and fished some good looking shoreline. Nothing at 1st but we finally found them and caught quite a few nice ones including at 10.5 incher.
We had a quick snack....
....before we headed back in the river as the wind and waves were picking up. Pastrami with Thai sauce. Good stuff!
The boat traffic was at a peak so we decided to hit my favorite and secluded pond.
A blue fish was caught!
And many more nice perch as well....
The numbers were down from last year's August trip but we got 2 good meals (20+ keepers) out of the day. I would say we caught about 50 (4-5 over 10") but I will say that the perch are not as abundant as they were 2-3 years ago. I hope they are OK and I will keep on after them until early October.
Today was a good day with 2 very nice young men who love to fish with their dad!
Now....the take out was another story! The ramp was packed and we had to wait 45+ minutes before being able to get the boat out of the water. Oh well....

Nice looking fishies and kids too. I would have guessed that Mustafa would raise really good kids. They look like good fishermen too!

Yup... pretty much the same type of feathered jig on a 'safety pin' spinner with a hammered blade.
