8-23-08 Patuxent River- Solomons Island, Md.

Ernie has already posted info on this trip. This is only my third trip to Solomons this season so I'm really mostly exploring to see what fish seem to be in what places. What I have found so far is this; the bottom is mostly clean sand with not much aquatic grass or oyster shells which attract fish. The shoreline is predominately clean sand. It looks like the kind of sand you buy for a childs sandbox. The water is exceptionally clear which is nice from the standpoint of being clean but I am having trouble finding any schools of fish. The white perch that I am catching have size but are scattered. I rarely catch more than four or five at any one location. I am going to continue to explore upstream in hopes of finding oyster beds or grass to attract fish.

We experienced much the same....never found a bunch of perch like we are used to. I know that the big white perch school up near the bridge in the winter. The water inside of the bridge (1/2 mile) was very deep!
