I got out with Richard *greenerbassin'" from Riversmallies to explore another section of the Shenandoah River today. We got there early and ran upriver a couple miles, paddling and using the TM on his scanoe. I caught a couple on the chug bug early and I got out to a quick lead 6-1. We fished all day and Richard used mostly his Zoom Craw and I ended up using mostly grubs. Richard caught the biggest fish of the day (just shy of 19") in a relatively small hole on a larger rock. There was a second fish about the same size or bigger right with it as he fought the fish.
He also caught the second biggest fish at 16"+ but BIG for it's length. I ended up with my best numbers day with 55 bass (2 were LM) and the biggest was a chunky 13+. I lost a good fish toward the end of the day. Richard ended up with 33. We saw a few Bald Eagles, Ospreys and another that looked like a type of Eagle. The highlight of the day was 2 black bear cubs that came romping down to the river right in front of us to drink. One got spooked, but the other drank for about two minutes before romping back up to the woods. We never did see the Mom. I am sure she was just out of sight.
I left my camera in Richard's truck, so pictures pending.

How was the depth? I want to take one more trip to the South Fork this year, but I don't want to drag the kayak all day.
Thanks...
