I went out this morning before work for a very quick trip to see if anything would bite. I was working my newfound chatterbait slowly near bottom but was not getting anything. I randomly decided to speed things up a bit and not a few casts later i had snagged one of those tall dry stalks. Only thing is my lure started swimming perpendicular to the direction i was reeling. I set the hook and fish on! Once it surfaced i realized what i had just done. I tried to land the fish quickly before any chance of losing it. I got it to shore nary a fight, but i was still cautious. When i lipped it i knew she was big by the size of her mouth. When i lifted her i couldnt believe what just happended. The entire lure was engulfed. No wonder i didnt notice the strike right away, it was still swimming in her mouth! My personal best bass in length and weight. Too bad i dont have a scale! Pictures dont do justice! I moved quickly to get a measurement and returned her to the water immediately. I really would have loved it if it fought me, but hey I'll take it!
20" beauty
Right after that i caught an 11" bass. It is amazing how much larger a bass is to one twice its length.
I also saw three huuuuuuuuuuuge grass carp enjoying the sun. They all rivaled the 70+lb carp that was caught a few years ago.
