So my bro in-law hooked me up with two Black Sea Bass (BSB) from the Deep Drop trip he and other Kayakers from another forum took recently (http://www.snaggedline.com/showthread.p … t-12-28-13) and I decided to Masgouf one of them to keep with the tradition . Here are the pics...
The fish was delicious! The only hang-up I had was the hard head. I haven't experienced anything like this and I was able to cut through a snakehead! The hard head on the BSB bent the tip of my knife! (same one I was using at the CBKA) I had to take another cleaver-like knife and hack through the head to split it open! Next time I'm going to have a nice sharp cleaver ready for these types of hard headed fish!

Sea Bass are one of my favorite fish to eat. Freezes well too. A friend and I caught a bunch over Thanksgiving weekend and I've probably eaten Sea Bass for dinner 7 or 8 times since then. Your fish looks awesome!

Hey Abu,
Nice job on the fish.
Where did you get the spit & holders you have in the first pix?

Very interesting methodology

Thanks for the complements Gents!
The spit and holders were from Walmart. The spit is a hot dog camp fork with the fork cut off and tip sharpened. The holders are called camp fork rests (comes as a pair). Those don't seem to be carried by Walmart anymore but you can find them online from a few retailers (Dick's included I just found out... Must have seen my video LOL! ).

I have a channel on youtube that shows how I do Masgouf - http://www.youtube.com/user/AbuMasgouf - Check out "Masgouf 101 at the CBKA Tournament" for a step by step.
It's not stealing bro, it's learning from each other

No sir. With your help in 2014 we can make that happen! Mmmmm 2 jumbo WP hanging on the skewer roasting away..... I can't wait!
A kayak fishing buddy last year tried out his first Masgouf with two jumbo WPs and he loved 'em! My biggest WP from last year was barely 11“ LOL!

Consider it done.....Masgouf WP with rice and black beans!

I know you did it at a tourny or one of the mkf meets, but it'd be cool to have a get together and do it locally as well.

We talked about this last year (at my place) but I never made it happen.
Will have to load up on WP and then we can do some masgouf after some time fishing the ponds....

Definitely!

Yeah, I'd like to see it done in person so I could add it to my options for cooking fish. Carl would probably have called anything but frying a WP blasphemy but I think it might be easier than filleting a cooler full of fish.
