Today, Greg and I were fishing on Carl's Everglades and we met up at the marina for some fishing chow...
Once we got that out of te way we headed out and stopped at the rock pile on the way out but found no love. I don't like when that happens.
Anyway, Carl and Greg were going to liveline for stripers so we needed some bait (spot). We searched high and mighty and only found 6 spot.
That was it! I was jigging for perch while they fished for spot and I only caught a couple. I even thew the mini spinerbait with no success.
So we headed up to the fishing grounds. The weather was spectacular and the bay was flat calm. And having a 300hp motor is special.
And Carl knows it!
When he hits the throttle, it's instant speed. i love his boat as we get to where we are going fast!
Once we shut the motor down, we marked a few fish and i began jigging. Greg and Carl prepared their rigs and it was not too many minutes later that Greg was hooked up!
He kept pressure on the fish the whole time and it was a good thing because when Carl netted it, the hook fell right out. Here is the nice, fat 25" beauty!
This was Greg's biggest striper to date....
A few minutes later, he gets hit again but it was a smaller fish but a feisty one!
We then went back to Holland Point to find some perch for dinner. We couldn't fish the docks but we fished all around and caught very few perch. That was eerie to say the least. These are perch rich areas and we were startled by the lack of activity. Oh well, it happens.
We came back at 1....many thanks to Carl for an enjoyable day! And on to Big Dave's BBQ I went!
