Just getting back from a fun family vacation with my wife's side of the family down in the OBX. I trailered my boat down and I fished from 6-10am each morning with my father in law and 2 brothers in law in Kitty Hawk Bay. We jigged a little but most of our success came on popping corks with Gulp shrimp, due to the thick grass and predominantly shallow water in the sound.
The action was hot earlier in the week with daily limits of keeper 18"-21" Redfish, a few keeper 15"-20" Trout, and throwback Trout and Flounder. Thursday through Staurday was a tougher slog as we picked away at a handful of Trout and Redfish.
Gulp shrimp outfished the DOA shrimp about 5-1 and I liked the action/sound of the Cajun Thunder popping corks with brass beads over the other styles of corks that we tried. Good times and it was nice to get my younger brother-in-law ,who isn't a keen fisherman, on 2 nice slot reds.

Thanks guys - there are some beautiful areas within a couple of miles of the boat ramp and during the week we didn't see another boat while we were out there. Our last day of fishing on Saturday was a different story but we still only shared the stretch of area we were fishing with 5 or 6 other boats. Some good laughs were had and some great meals too!
