Had another window today....
After talking to my friend Len Kay earlier in the week, we made plans to fish Algonkian after work on this boat. We were worried about heat and storms but that was for naught as we had a beautiful evening with lots of anticipation.
We were on the water and fishing by 4:45pm...
Len took the 1st couple of skunks off the boat with these guys....
He was using a teeny firetiger crank. I was using a soft plastic jerk/swim bait and a tube. Finally, I scored!
That turned out to be the big one for the day....
We plucked a few fish here and there but it was slow fishing to say the least.
As we drifter, we got close to a guy in a yak and he caught a smallie right as we passed by. We chatted about the slow bite and moved on. But then I noticed another kayak heading over to us.
The yaker recognized my voice. It was Louise Dennis, one of my bike riding partners.
Note: On 7/14, I was riding and my front derailleur snapped off. Thankfully, I was going slow to help another biker. Had I been going fast when it happened...who knows. Anyway, I took my bike to the shop I normally go to and after a week....no progress. So I took it over to A1 Bikes in Herndon. They put the bike on a stand and gave it a good look and provided me with an estimate and said it would take at least a week as they had to order a part. Well, today (3 business days later) they had my bike ready and they came in 30% under the estimate. I like these guys!
Oh....her friend was Chris Lutz whom I have been wanting to meet.
Chris is an avid yak fisherman and he is also a custom rod builder. He specializes in building rods specifically for fishing in a yak. naturally, I was interested in his rods and he came over to show me. Nice work...I should have taken a picture. His rods have a shorter butt which makes them easy to fish from a yak.
Here is another of Len's catches...
As the sun started to go down, I thought the bite would pick up but it did not. We did manage about 15 fishies with Len leading the pack.
However, it was a gorgons afternoon/evening to be out and we enjoyed the outing.

Shame on you Ernie, you should be doing your own bike work.

Ha! No way......I won't even change a tire so the derailleur issue was more than I would even think to tackle. Many moons ago, I would do it. Now, I would rather bike or fish or watch baseball than spend time trying to fix something that I would have no clue to do.
Heck, I have some accessories for my Hobie boat that I have yet to install.....

Nice writeup as usual, Ernie! Great pics, too.
I'm on my final week of unemployment and hit Riverbend and Algonkian this week. It's been tough to get a quality fish. Best I've done is a 12"er today with Bruce at Algonkian. Now, it's back to weekend fishing. :-(
