Upper Potomac 7-13-08

Curly and I launched at point of rocks around 6:30 am the plan was to go down river as far as the Dickerson power plant. Curly caught the first fish on top water, but it was only 4-5 inches long. We quickly found out that was going to be average for the day. We caught close to 40 between us, but the largest fish of the day was only 12.5"

We were floating down river and Curly says "I smell fish, there must be a spawning blue gill over there"
One cast later

Water temp was 82 on the river and 97degrees coming out of the power plant.
I another fun day on the river even though the bite was slow.

Gotta love it!

I am really exited about the future of our river...let's just hope nothing goes wrong any time soon. I am actually looking forward to kayaking out to the grass mats to see if I can coax a nice smallie into the yak!

Re: Upper Potomac 7-13-08

The key this time of year may be cooler water...if you can find it. It would be interesting to see what the water temp difference between north of the powerplant output and just south of it. It would also be interesting to see how long it takes for the water temp to cool off in terms of distance from the powerplant.

If it were easy, they'd call it catching!
