7-5-13, Out of Deale

With high expectations, Jimmy, Bob and I got to Deale around 6:30a to see if we could duplicate what Curly, Jeff and I did.

The winds looked calm and we were hopeful they would stay that way.

This time, we started off at the end of the jetty and immediately hooked up with some feisty white perch and some very hungry juvie stripers.

We caught about a dozen and then decided to nose out into the bay. About 1/2 way there I started to get cold feet. First, it was a bit snotty. And second, I couldn't see the fleet. But we went over anyway, the water spray cools you off.

We hit a few spots where we did find some boats but we never marked anything worth stopping for, as Curly say, "spaghetti"!

We went north of Poplar, west of Poplar and south of Poplar.

NADA!!

So we decided to cross back until we saw some boats so we meandered over there. Ran into Capt. Brady Bounds and he was having trouble finding keepers. That's all I needed so we high tailed it back to get some white perch.

While they were not their usual cooperative selves, we managed to catch a bunch up to 11.5 inches with many in the 10+" range.

A good time for sure!

Bob and I even managed to catch a croaker!

At one point, we came by an osprey that was guarding her younguns....

Then she told us to get out!

After hitting the inside cove where Mo has caught a 13 incher, we caught a few and decided to call it a day and head in to Big Dave's BBQ. Bob and jimmy had pork BBQ and I had brisket. All good!

No meatballs today...very few marks.

It was a good day but snotty.....up to 3 footers on the way across and back. Bob was cool about it and Jimmy is used to being tossed around the boat.

I was thinking about you because it was a beautiful day, but pretty windy...making it "snotty".  Glad you got your white perch fix and didn't get dive bombed by the Osprey.  5 feet closer and one of you would have been carried away in her talons!
