Five of us (Ernie, Jamie, Miguel, Travis and Bob) met up at 6AM ad we have very little company.
It was a gorgeous morning!
Some of the guys went north....
...and some went south!
I spent the 1st hour trying to figure out why my Hobie peddles were not working. I had floated a 1/2 mile and had to paddle back...with a short paddle! I finally reached Bob and I was cussin' the Hobie out....ready to put a For Sale sign on it. Bob walked me through it and that is when we realized that I did not have them locked in properly. Fixed!
While there, Bob hooked into a feisty one.
Once I was fixed up, I went to the other side of the island and caught my 1st one.....
....a teeny LMB!
I then caught 4 more smallies but all were less that 12".
At 10:45 I saw the guys coming back to the ramp so I headed back as well. Right in front of the ramp, I caught my biggest!
...a 13 incher!
We were done by 11 and beat the Jet Skis today.
Jamie caught 20+ fish including a 20" channel cat....all on a fly!
Miguel caught a bunch including a 15" smallie.
Bob had over 20...
No report from Travis...he was still fishing when we left!

Beautiful day indeed. It was nice to finally meet some of the fellows. I can't wait until our next outing. most of the smallies I caught came on a split shot rig (with a Zoom Smokin' Shad) Here are some of the pics I took.

What a nice day for kayaking, perfect conditions. Everything I caught was little, including a 4" smallie and another 4" lm. It was still a lot of fun. Nice meeting everyone, can't wait till next time.

Looks like y'all did very well. Has the water cleared up any? Last Sunday only 1 foot of visibility......

Depth finder said 3' and you could see the bottom

I was out of there at noon and still no jetskis. I caught a bunch of small smallies and some small LMB. The biggest LMB was the biggest of all. Lots of sunfish too. Senkos and a small crankbait caught most of them. One or two on a large tube. I noticed that along the MD shore was the dirtiest part of the river, very low vis. The MD side of the islands it was pretty clear though. Along the VA stretch the visibility varied the same way. There were areas where I could see the bottom at 6ft.

Here is Jamie's response: Had a great time fishing yesterday morning with Ernie and some of his friends at Algonkian. The river was surprisingly clear. I caught about 20 fish, including a 14" smallie on the fly and a 20" catfish on the fly.
