Andrew,

I checked out the pics of your kayak and it is certainly well appointed. You have an awesome craft!!

What is your transport method? I have a Honda Accord so can the 9' model be easily transported via roof rack?

Re: July 4th 2008 Float on the Upper Potomac

My transport method is a little unorthodox but I love it. I have a large cargo van that i just load it into. It fits into it almost perfectly and doesn't require me to unload everything before loading it into the van. My friend, SimonSays, is looking to get the "sport" model as well. Maybe you guys can buy them at the same time and get a better discount. I can point you to the dealer i went to as they were really helpful in getting me the best deal.  Roof racks are a good idea, and if they were over 600 bucks for me i'd go that route too. All you'd need are the cross bars and not those "special" kayak roof rack adapters if you have good straps, foam pads, and accessible tow hooks at the front and rear of your accord.

Yep the roof racks can get expensive! I managed to piece together a yakima roof rack set (total set for me $450 new) for $200 with a boat loader.  I shopped around on craigslist and eventually got all the parts.
