Jumping Jasper and I had lines in at 5:55 am. Couldn't find them at first........but then we did. Caught 12 very fat stripers between 19-39". Most fish were in the mid-20s. Bite shut down at 9 am. Headed back in before the winds got too bad.
24"
Yes, that's a silver buddie in the first pic.
35"
27"
And 39"
All released to be caught again. Season opens on May 16.

It was nice of Jeff to get the little ones out of the way for ya. Nice fish and no herring.
He even let me catch a catfish
Just kidding, always the gentleman he let me have the first one and his good Karma paid off for him.
We also had two break offs and several got off before the were hooked good. An epic day!

It was great teamwork out there .......very smooth....no tangled lines the entire morning. We had a 27" and 35" double that went without a hitch...............except that I put a hook past the barb in my right hand ,while unhooking the 35". I snatched it out quickly and Jeff didn't even blink an eye.

We also ran into Salmo out there he lost a big one and caught several under 30" (jeff size) maybe he will report later.

My six year old son and I did we'll too, just not that well. But I returned today a put the smack down. Well below Fletcher's, fish up to 38" on bait and many many mid 20's on jigs. 3/4oz jig heads and gulp jerk shAds. Big blues hit them almost as often. Morning is definitely the theme. But I think it's also the tide. Perfect low light ebb the last few days.
